Catch up time!

So we have done a lot of fun things and I am finally getting around to do the posting. With playgroup we have come to love the Murray outdoor swimming pool and so I finally took my camera to capture the slide. Isaac could just do the slide the whole time, but those stairs will get to you after a while. We have so much fun playing in the pool.
Then on Friday night Gary and I had a date night. We went and saw Tropic Thunder (which I don't recommend) but it was so nice to go out just the 2 of us. Isaac had a great time playing with Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Steve and Annie.
On Saturday we went to the Bees baseball game. It was so nice and they actually played well. We even stayed to watch the fireworks. During the game I leaned over to Gary and said we are in foul ball territory and the next inning Gary caught a foul ball (with his surgical hand) while holding onto his ice cream cone in his other hand. His hand was a little red afterwards, but hey we got a souvenier.
On Sunday when we were getting ready to leave the house, Isaac fell into the corner of our coffee table and immediately had a bump. I have no idea how his forehead didn't split open, but I am very thankful it didn't. Here he is trying to point to his bump. We held him down and put ice on his head to help with the swelling. That was fun trying to get him to hold still. That night we took a drive up to Brighton and walked around Silver Lake. The temperature was perfect, but the mosquitoes were all over so unfortunately we had to walk quickly. I also bought some new glasses finally so here is a picture of them. It is really nice to get stylish glasses after wearing my lab glasses that I wore in Iowa several years ago.
Lastly, here are some pics of Isaac and mom having fun in the backyard. My sunflowers finally bloomed and they are so beautiful. I can't believe how big they are. Oh and if anyone wants tomatoes - COME AND GET THEM!!!

It's Official

So there are a couple of things that are official - I am doing my first triathlon on September 1st. I am really excited and hope I can do it. Don't worry it is just a beginner race and the distances are very short. But hey, I am looking forward to completing the race. I will let you know how it goes. Second, we finally got a week of vacation for Gary in September so I booked us airfare to Florida. We get to go to Disney World and are looking forward to the vacation. It will be a nice B-day present for Isaac and myself. Now I just have lots of planning to do to find a good deal on a hotel and car rental. Lastly, we bought season tickets to the University of Utah Football games. I am so excited and the best part is Utah plays BYU at Utah this year so that will be a great game to end their season. Hopefully they are good this year.

Our Garden

So this year we planted lots of tomatoes and corn and beans indoor and I kept most of them alive while they were in the house. Then they started to get too big and I had to transplant them into larger pots (while still indoors). Then I gradually took them outside everyday and eventually they were planted into the garden. While most of those plants did not survive we decided to purchase tomato plants from the store. Gary was very outgoing and wanted to chose a lot of different varieties. So we ended up with about 36 tomato plants. On top of that we have a whole packet of corn that was planted and some sunflowers, beans and peppers. Well to say the least, we have so many tomatoes!!! We have already eaten a few that had ripened and they are very tasty. The corn and beans are great too! The sunflowers haven't blossomed yet, but they are huge. The one is over 7 feet tall. The second is about 6 feet and the 3rd is my height at 5'4 (with shoes). This picture was taken one week ago. It has been a lot of up keep and I am looking forward to canning some tomatoes and spaghetti sauce.
The right half of the picture are all tomato plants. The best part is we have irrigation water from Milcreek Canyon and so we don't have to water it from the sprinklers. The back of the garden has tubing that allows for the water to be distributed throughout the garden in rows. We have purchased extra tubing and hooked them together to flood the lawn so we don't have to water it as much. Isaac loves to play in the water as it flows out of the tube.

Random Post

This is Isaac on the 4th of July holding his 1st sparkler. Gary was very nervous to let Isaac hold it. He had a great time playing with them.
So we had my grandparents in town from Cleveland, Ohio and we enjoyed visiting with them. We had a great family party up in Millcreek Canyon. My uncle, Brent, brought his fishing gear and let all the children cast out a line. Of course he was helping Isaac and they caught a fish. I tried to get a picture of him touching the fish, but the camera's battery was too low. He thought it was very fun. Later on in the week, it was my brother Steve's birthday and so my mom had everyone over for dinner. Here is a picture of Isaac wearing his Hawaiian outfit that Grandma brought home from Hawaii for him. We have been busy working and Gary's schedule has been so crazy. He has been paged more this past month than in his first 2 years combined. Let's just say we are counting the days till he is done with this rotation. (Only 3 months to go.) We have been swimming at Murray park a couple of times and Isaac absolutely loves it. There is a pretty good water slide and he just says "again" each time we go down. The best part about it is when we come home he takes a 3 hour nap.

6 Years!

Today is our 6th anniversary and I have loved being married to such a great guy. Gary has worked so hard these last couple of years we are excited to be in our final year of residency. We started our marriage in Iowa and met so many wonderful friends. It is nice to be back home in SLC by our family and friends here. I am so thankful for all the things Gary has brought into my life. I am especially grateful for our beautiful son, Isaac. The best thing is we still have just as much fun now as we did when we were dating.

Happy 4th of July

So our holiday started on the 3rd when we rode our bikes down the street to watch fireworks. The city of South Salt Lake sets off fireworks at the high school that is just down the street from us. They were really good and lasted for about 30 minutes. Isaac really enjoyed them, although I think he enjoyed the bike ride more than the fireworks. We had a rough morning and missed the parade, but had a nice lunch with Gary's family. It has been so much fun having his brother and his family here from Phoenix. We really miss hanging out with them. This afternoon we had a nice relaxing time watching Wimbledon and enjoyed a great BBQ. Isaac fell asleep at 9 so it is peace and quiet for Gary and I.
