Happy 6th Birthday Isaac

I still can't believe he is already 6 years old.  He is so special to me.  He is such a happy fun loving boy and wants to do everything perfectly.  He asked me for an Indiana Jones cake this year.  So this was my creation.  I ordered a figurine off the internet and it arrived 2 days AFTER his birthday. So we improvised with an army guy.  He was so excited for his birthday this year.  Once we moved into our new home he invited EVERYONE to his birthday party - which we weren't going to have this year.  Well I caved and had a couple of friends over.  We always have to have the number of balloons you are turning. So here are his 6 balloons.

I decided to do a slip-n-slide and water gun party since the weather had been beautiful. Of course we had a cold front come in so the water wasn't the biggest hit.  The boys still had a great time with the water guns.  Zach, Kohler, Nicholas, Harrison and Isaac.
Of course you have to have a pinata at the party.  They all had fun taking turns and it was nice because it slowly broke open so each kid was able to knock some candy out.

 Hurry - get the loot!
 Time for cake.

In the evening we had family come join us to celebrate.
Isaac got a brand new bike from mom and dad.  It was a little big but he caught on in no time.

Happy birthday Isaac!  We love you so much.  You are such a wonderful big brother to your sisters and a great helper for mom and dad.  I hope you had a wonderful day.

Our "Stay-cation"

So here is a shot of Katie's room before and part way after.  It is still a work in progress but enough to show it off.  I really want to paint the walls but I am not ready to make the commitment.  Maybe this winter we can do some painting.
We were super lucky to have my Grandfather come and visit us for a week from Cleveland.  It had been 3 years since I had last seen him.  Here he is with my 3 kiddos. I think he had fun with all the grandkids and great grandkids.

So Gary took 3 days off of work and we were thinking of going somewhere, but we ended up just using all our season passes to different places and finishing some things around the house.  This is Red Butte Gardens.  I LOVE the tree in the background.  The color of the flowers were absolutely amazing.  Isaac and Sarah enjoyed playing in the fountain.
Another day we decided to drive up Provo Canyon and stop at Bridal Veil Falls.  I love waterfalls and it was such a pretty day.  The water was a little on the chilly side though!

So we stopped at Trafalga in Lehi and played for a little bit.  Sarah wanted to try out the rock climbing wall.  She made it a couple rocks up and decided that was not for her!  But she LOVED the frog jump ride.  Since there were no lines she rode it about 10 times in a row - till I forced her to do something else.
It was my turn to take the kids on the splash boats.  It was fun to spray other people.  Isaac was a fan of the ride, but Sarah - not so much.
And of course we had to go to the zoo one day too!  Dad even got to ride the train one last time before they closed it for renovation.  It is always so much fun having dad at home.

All smiles

At 4 months old Katie weighed in at 18.11 lbs

At 6 months old Katie weighed in at 20 lbs and 26.5 inches long.
The pediatrician told me to finally start feeding her food.  The first couple of days more came out than I put in, but she is finally getting the hang of it.  She loves squash. The first few times of feeding her the fruits she wasn't so sure and made some funny faces.  I gave her a piece of watermelon and she went to town.  That occupied her for 30 min. sucking on the melon.

Here she is at 6 months.  She can roll from back to tummy. Sits up with help, Smiles all the time and occasionally sleeps through the night.  She loves being outside.  She has been so much fun!
So Katie finally has all the baby toys she could dream of.  We are now settled into the house and I was able to get all the baby stuff out of storage.  She loves sitting in the high chair and playing with toys while I get dinner ready.  The play mat is also a huge hit.
Sarah loves to "help" with Katie.  She always wants to hold her and loves to squeeze her hands and feet.  Poor Sarah just hears me tell her SOFT all day long.

Finally a couple pics of me with my cute kids.
 Just chillin with Dad!

More Festivities

Another cute picture of Isaac with Katie.  He is SO GOOD with her.  He is such a big helper and Katie really loves him.  He can get her to smile so easily.  He loves to hold her.  I am so glad they are so close to each other.

The Oakley Rodeo.  This year Gary's parents bought everyone tickets to go to the rodeo.  THANK YOU - We had a fabulous time.  The weather was perfect and the kids had a great time.

Grandma snuggled Katie most of the night while Annie was snuggling Ethan.
We all headed up to the cabin afterwards.  The next morning the kids couldn't wait to get out on the 4 wheelers.  Thanks to Uncle Mike for keeping them all running.  I get so nervous driving them each time but after a couple minutes I remember how much fun they are.  Isaac LOVED it.  He was on the 4 wheeler most of the day.
TEN YEARS - Happy Anniversary
This was a big milestone in our marriage - we made it 10 wonderful years.  Don't get me wrong we have our ups and downs but there have been way more ups than downs.  This sweet man has been through so much with me.  We moved to Iowa 10 days after being married.  This was the best thing we could have done for our relationship.  We had to rely on eachother.  Gary was super busy with medical school but we still found time to explore Iowa and have some fun trips along the way.  We moved back to SLC after 3.5 years for residency.  This was great because we were able to welcome 2 wonderful children into our family during this chapter in our lives.  After residency we moved to Yakima, WA for some wild times.  Another growing experience for us and made some wonderful friends.  His job wasn't the best so after a 2 yrs we decided to pack up and move back down to Utah.  We were able to welcome our 3rd child into our family in February.  And on this July 20, 2012 we BOUGHT OUR HOME.  I love it and will post pics soon.  I just want to thank Gary for all the wonderful times we have been able to share together.

Here is a picture of our home.  I was actually taking it of Sarah wearing her helmet backwards.

Utah vs BYU

While we were packing things up at my parents Isaac decided to put a hat on Katie.  Of course she is wearing the Utah hat while Isaac is sporting his BYU.  Tonight while talking to Gary on the phone he asked which team was going to win the football game tomorrow the Utes or BYU Cougars - Isaac's response:  the Cheatas.  He is playing it safe.  Love you Isaac.  I love their smiles!

July 4th

This year we started the holiday off at the Murray Parade.  The kids love sitting down on the curb watching the floats and people walk by and toss TONS of candy to the crowd.  It is fun because it is tradition and we get to hang out with Gary's family.  After the parade we all head back to G&G Oaks for a BBQ.  Thanks to Aunt Stephanie we have pictures of the picnic.  (I have gotten so terrible about taking my camera with me)

I purchased some sparklers and let the kids have some fun with them.  I thought Sarah would be scared of holding it, but nope she LOVED it.  She kept asking for another one - just like her big brother.

We walked to the Cottonwood Club for fireworks and the kids had to make a quick stop at the playground first.  Isaac is a MONKEY - he only wants to go to the playgrounds that have monkey bars.  He can scale up the poles so he doesn't use the steps.  He will just swing back and forth till he slips off.  I wish I had as much upper body strength as he does.  Since Dad was there - he had some fun balancing Isaac.

Here at the Cottonwood Club waiting for the fireworks.  The had a surprisingly good show this year.  This is a fun tradition I have had since I was a little girl.  It was nice to see some friends I grew up with there and now we all have kids of our own.
