Need to vent

So this afternoon Gary and I decided to take Isaac to Murray park to walk around while the sun was out. Of course Isaac ran straight for the playground where all the school kids were playing since school had just ended for the day. Anyway, we let him just play with the other kids for a few minutes. He immediately went and was watching 3 older boys play with a bouncy ball. As usual Isaac was carrying his little football. All of a sudden one of the boys, probably around kindergarten or first grade, came up and kicked Isaac in the chest where he was holding the football. I immediately ran and grabbed the boy by his arm and told him that was wrong and he needed to say he was sorry. I had to repeat myself 2 or 3 times, because he just stood there. After he said he was sorry I asked if his mom was there and the older brother said yes. I told him to go and tell his mom that he just kicked a little boy. Gary came over and we made sure that Isaac was fine. While he was walking to his mom he apparently told her that I pushed him and she started to yell at me. Well everyone knows I am not the type to just back down while being yelled at and I told her what the real story was. I was so furious because she wasn't even watching her children. She was on the other side of the playground talking. I get so mad when parents don't pay attention to their children. Boys will be boys and I know he was probably trying to kick the football, but that made me so mad!!!

That totally sucks. I am glad you held your ground and explained to her what really happened. I to get upset with parents who don't pay attention. I hope he is ok, poor little guy!

I totally understand. The thing I hate more is parents who "believe" their kids before they "get" the whole story. One thing I DON'T miss about teaching :) Sorry that happened.

We had a similar experience at the park the other day when an older boy kept whipping Corban with a bead necklace he had. After the third time he did and still was listening Eric got involved and told the child's mother that her little "punk" better knock it off. This resulted with an angry mom yelling at Eric "how dare you call my son a punk". Eric only laughed, which made it worse, but it is so frustrating when other parents don't tend to their own I completely sympathize.

What the crap? Are you kidding me? I mean I know stuff like that happens, but Isaac's so little! I can't imagine how mad I'd be if a "big kid" kicked Noah in the chest (and then lied about it)! Aaargh. Some people (and their kids)!
